Guess that means we should stop trying to get certain items then? They'll drop down easily in price, or do a certain point where we don't have to drastically do things to get them. and sweet, I can't wait for the Paladin, I can delete my tank I barely leveled up with.

My shiny purple artifacts only got them last week and now they'll be redundant within a month da fuq was the point in Tiamat dropping anything? Wow a month of usage :I - I'm not bitter at all

Paladin is, and I hope it will continue to be, a free character, you just need a slot to have a character for it.
And the orb may be, it's completely useless as is right now.

I don't think Mod 6 makes everything obsolete - certainly not immediately. From what I have researched, artifact necks and belts may still be fine. Artifacts will be okay, until you come across something you like better - although I wouldn't necessarily run out and buy a bunch of new ones.
It does change my thinking in needing to grind an offhand for alts - if a toon isn't getting used much now, it can just wait. Armor will get updated, but enchants will work. I won't be using any blood rubies (if I had any) for refining my artifact weapons ... But I will still feed greens and blues to try to get to epic.

Your artifacts will be ok, settle down. This content introduces a higher level than "legendary" for enchantments and artifacts: Mythic. I don't play the PC version enough to have arti weapons/belt/cloak yet, but at the very least, you can feed the lvl 60 versions into any new stuff you get and all the refinement points you've dumped into it carry over. also, with this release, all endgame content scales up to lvl 70. i'd imagine that includes armor drops from the dungeons.
on another note, do any of you play any other MMOs? this happens in, quite literally, every one of them. new expansion comes out, makes even "endgame" gear useless after 1 or 2 levels in the new content.

Yeah used to play wow. Until my 70 set became obsolete when wotlk came out. Then I cba to grind again. I've read that if you put your artifact weapons in as a RP gain towards a new weapon it only uses 40% of its original RP, which if true sucks!

If you haven't read the thread I posted on here, start working on getting your HP/Crit/ and Arm Pen up as high as you can.
You'll be getting one shotted left and right when we grind our way up to 70

Nope. When all this shit goes live, there are quests that Minsc and Boo accompany you on, which rewards a mainhand weapon and a set of armor with stats that are probably higher than what you're wearing (again, i don't have an artifact weapon, i'd imagine they're better than what this quest gives though). the curve is gradual up to 70, it doesn't immediately require 6000 armor penetration to do any damage at lvl 61. just imagine the new lvl 60 to be how lvl 50 was as you were levelling up. you didn't have to grind dungeons to get super gear in order to quest in the Chasm or Mt. Hotenow.
Maybe the weapons are treated differently, but when i burned my lvl 40 Wisdom Belt into my brand new Imperial belt, it went up to.... lvl 40. I still had to use Marks for the 2 quality upgrades, of course.

I didn't say to get the stuff up to over 6-7k right away, i'm saying to start stocking up on items that will help with it. You thought grinding to 60 was hard? This will test your patience big time if you can work your way up.
And endgame, you are given the main/off hand by general and lord from what the man says. i'm taking the advice he's given, I don't need the tiamats orb, it's useless for my CW and SW, it might be good on my paladin but i'd rather see what ineed for him when it's time to make it. Pallys will be the new TR or HR, we'll be seeing a lot of them, specially at 60-70 range, buffs and heals galore from one shots.

bloodaxe the answer to your question is no and end game gear will only start to be affected in elemental evil areas as all the other areas and campaigns are below the end game content that we have or will be scaled up to lvl 60 to 65 on mods 1,2,3 so your equipment atm is nowhere near obsolete so you can either keep grinding the artifacts you have now or go straight to the new ones the choice is yours.

ugh, im sure im in a vast minority here, but i was looking forward to a slow release of the module's over the rest of the year, all the campaign daily's, new gear to acquire, dungeons and skirmish's.. gonna be a very busy few hours every day just to keep from "playing catch up" on each character, another full time job itself.
Atleast we'll be on-track for strongholds in the new year!

Do we have any numbers on exp required from 60-70 for instance the large exp boost woukd basically net you double exp to almost 1-60, I'll be curious as I plan on starting and maining a paladin day 1

I'm sure we'll be able to kill the level 60s at ease, but i'm also sure they'll get quiet a good boost of damage/defense as we level up and what not. Should ask a few of the PC players how it'll be

61-70 takes as long as 1-60 does. We'll probably get the PC's version of the large xp boost when EE drops. like the current xp boost that's $50, it basically gives you double xp until you hit 70.

61-70 by the numbers will be leagues longer than 1-60 took, just 60-61 is about 10x more xp than 59-60 XP Chart - XP chart on the wiki, numbers should be pretty spot on level 60 is 910k xp, level 70 is 7,084,000 xp, thats just over 7.75 times more xp than you have earned totally, with quest rewards being 5-6k xp, kills giving 50-150 (1k solo elites) after including kills id say it will take around 800 quest completions to hit 70, once you factor in the 4 new campaigns, dailys and finshing EE for your artifacts, should take a long weekend with dedication to hit 70 but look at probably 12+ hours a day if your trying that.

I guess it would depend on your playstyle. You could most certainly do 60-70 in a week if you hit it hard for 5 or 6 hours a night. I can do 1-60 without a boost in less than a week, but once I get into the leveling mindset, I don't usually slow down and do other things with my time logged in (I don't bother with the AH, or campaigns, or crafting, etc.) I personally will, most likely, buy an xp boost unless a double xp weekend is announced for EE launch. So my OP will probably hit 70 in time with most of the guild hitting 70 on their "main" characters.
Another thing worth mentioning: aside from the Dragon campaigns, all of the other campaigns are designed to be done at max level. When mods 1, 2, and 3 were launched on PC, that was 60. All of those areas are now scaled for lvl 70. I'd imagine that's not changing for the xbox launch. So, if you're chomping at the bit to head into Icewind Dale, or the Dread Ring, prepare yourself to level to 70 first!

Crafting won't be useless, just keep leveling them up.
Personalized Adamant or something rings of piercing give your armor pen and power +190something than what you have now.
Max level for professions is 25 in the next update.
