Good Afternoon!
I have a level 55 HR. Right now, I'm in Icespire Peak, just finished the first group of missions. I'm also in the "Assist The Lord's Alliance" section of the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign.
During the week (after work but before family time), I run around to get any daily repeatable quests from the harpers, work in the first three dragons, and then see if I can get one or two missions done for whatever zone I'm in. On the weekends, I am able to get in Skirmishes, daily dungeons, PvP, etc.
I'm not a serious player compared to the rest of you, but I'd like to make my character a lot more effective.
What information do you need from my character to give me advice on equipment to buy and professions to work on?
Thanks! Doug

As soon as you get to 60, we can see what's in the guild bank and get some purple on you first I am more then happy to run a few T2s to get your gears during weekend.

I hate to sound like a doofus, but is there some place I can go to read about the terminology? I'm not sure what purple is or what T2s are

I don't know of anything like that, but you will pick it all up quick once you are 60; I suppose someone could put together a list of the common nomenclature you will become familiar with once you are level 60..
Purple is the color of epic gear (one step above blue). We have a couple vaults full of epics for you to sift through once you make it to 60 to get outfitted with (I have seen folks go from 5k gear score to 10k just from the guild vaults). Once you start running epic dungeons (T1 is a tier one epic, T2 is tier two) you will be getting outfitted in your class sets. Tier 1 dungeon gear is inferior to T2 dungeon gear and in my day you had to run the T1s to get prepared to go after your T2 set.
With the state of things today and the talent we have in the guild most people skip their T1 set entirely (with the exception of clerics) and either buy T2 set pieces from the auction house since most are so cheap, or just run the T2 dungeons with the guild. If anything else springs to mind you would like cleared up, just ask.

Nor am I at the level of most of the folks here, but I do a lot of reading to feed my addiction when I can't play and sadly that's most of the time. Rarely can I play on the weekends, so that's a real damper on progressing. BUT... here are some of my favorite sources of info- I really recommend, if you haven't already, read the following dungeon delving and etiquette guides. Really, these are great for everyone. I think these should be broken down into lore quest items in the game that people have to find and read before their first dungeon, that way at least a small percentage more of the non-MMO population would know these. laggygamerz.com/forum/index.php?/topic/198-dungeon-delving-and-etiquette-in-otr/laggygamerz.com/forum/index.php?/topic/207-guide-to-efficient-dungeon-clearing/They were written for the PC crowd, but both are chock full of extremely good information and advice. One does state that HR T1 gear is 'currently' overpriced, but that was then, so definitely check. A dungeon that is referred to as T1 refers to a first level dungeon with a lower level gear score requirement to enter, same goes for T2 which is a more difficult dungeon requiring a higher gear score to enter. T1 and T2 gear both drop from their respective dungeons. T1 and T2 gear are categorized as 'epic' pieces which have purple borders to their icons, hence the term 'purple gear'. The average leveling player focuses on getting the best blue pieces of gear they can find, then once you hit 60, it is time to focus on replacing your blues with purples. Hope this all makes sense. As far as HR gear, maybe one of our HR's can drop some wisdom on ya, but until then, here's a breakdown of all of the epic "purple" HR gear and its boons and specs: neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Hunter_Ranger/Epic_GearLook for the section for T1 gear and start there through T2. You can start deciding on which set has the bonuses you want. Oh, T2 gear comes with bonuses depending on how many of the set you have. For example, the HR T2 set called Grand Warden has a 2 piece bonus of +450 Critical Strike and the full 4 Piece set has the following bonus: "When you critically strike with an At-will power, there is a 20% chance that your next Encounter power will deal 1,735 more physical damage". Your call, lots of different sets with varying bonuses. As for professions, I have two characters that I switch back n' forth regularly. Each one has different professions around level 14. I prefer to focus on all of the following: Leadership (for the AD) Leatherworking (for the armor kits) Tailoring (for the armor kits) Jewelcrafting (personalized rings) Alchemy (dreams of making my own potions one day and making millions off of the market ;p ) Hopefully, some of this answered your questions.

There's a few items in the AH for extremely cheap (6-8k tops?) Should see if you can get the gear and whatever is expensive, we'll help you out in either doing t he dungeon or seeing if we have one to give ya. Don't be afraid to ask when you get to 60 to do some dungeons, i'll help out.

I might have some extra HR gear to get you started, I'll have to check sfter work tonight. My main is Messy Smelliot, if you see me on hit me up. If I don't have any gear to kick down to you I can at least help you run through some dungeons and get you some loot.

Trischley - I've been reading the first link: laggygamerz.com/forum/index.php?/topic/198-dungeon-delving-and-etiquette-in-otr/And have a couple of questions - 1) when is DD hour? I had thought that daily dungeons were available at any time. 2) does our guild have loot rules for dungeons? If so, what are they? 3) when doing a dungeon, is there a set of normal duties for individual classes? For example, is there an "expected" rotation of powers that a hunter ranger should use in between rapid/electric/aimed shots? All of my dungeons have been pick ups and most of those ended with me getting booted a couple of minutes after getting in for some reason (which then led to waiting another 15-30 minutes for the next group to queue). 4) I just recently started getting chat in NW. Are there specific channels I should have open? I may have other questions as I read more of the info you sent.

You can run dungeons whenever you want, but you're only given one daily dungeon key for opening the chest after the final boss, so use it wisely. However whenever the "Dungeon Delves" event is running you can open the final chest without using your key, even if you enter the dungeon with 1 second left on the timer the chest will still be open at the end. You can also purchase extra keys from the Wondrous Bazaar, I can't remember how much they cost but the items you find in the chest usually salvage for more than the cost of the key anyway. Dungeon Delves show up at random throughout the day and last for one hour, if you go into your start menu you can see what the current event is on the bottom right and upcoming events as well.
As far as chat goes I have one tab for Guild and Group only, and whenever I'm in the enclave I make sure Trade is turned off because it's really annoying.

Some additional answers for you:
There are no set guild loot rules, but in general everyone will Need on enchantments, marks, rings, belts and necks since everyone can use or sell them (as well as any gear that is an upgrade for you). Greed on everything else, and most of us will give you any gear that you will wear as an upgrade if we win it. If you have something you want to go after, don't hesitate to mention it in guild chat, my and many peoples' favorite thing to do is help people get the gear they need. I usually ask if anyone needs anything before I decide to visit the castle and make Kevian richer.
There are no expected powers or rotations, use what you like. What will be expected is you to fill your role: keep the group alive if you are a cleric, take the hits if you are a tank, kill things for everyone else.
In this guild you should only be in a PUG if you are looking for new recruits or are a sadist. Or both.
I also generally only use a tab with guild, group, say and tell enabled, with an additional tab I use when looking to help people do dungeons. Your guild chat won't scroll away before you can read it, and it makes things a lot more enjoyable.
Also going to throw out there that any time you open a chest, if you don't like the contents you can back out with B and save your key (may as well take it during Delves, it's free).

Wife works tonight so I will be around for the majority of the evening; I would be happy to let you pick out anything you need from the vaults and then run some epics for the rest. If you feel like a relaxed guided tour style of dungeon run, just let me know when you are ready.

I can do some clericing as well, if needed. I am a bit sick of picking flowers and peridot with my TR.

Howdy Doug, there's a maybe a more condensed and to-the-point list, but I grimace a bit at the title. But I'll slap it in here. I was happy to have found it when I first started out myself. It originally was posted elsewhere and recently @%# re-posted to Reddit. I promise it is not the size of a dissertation. www.reddit.com/r/Neverwinter/comments/32mtm1/xbox_dungeon_etiquette_for_dummies_or_anyone_new/Just my take on it- but it seems that the main dungeon beefs that peeps have are with looting while someone is still fighting. This causes that pesky Need, Greed Box to pop up and block the top part of the screen. This also jacks up some of the spell casters and such. It's polite to wait for everything to be dead before picking up the shiny stuff. It's especially frustrating when I'm playing my CW. The other beef I would venture to say is someone constantly using knock-backs meaning they keep dispersing the adds/trash/minion monsters that someone else pulled together. But really, this sounds too formal and rule-y. It is just a game and when you're with guild members, they will take care of you and not make you feel like you did something wrong. I've even done a few dungeons with PUGs that were quite pleasant when it came down to the boss and everyone came together and started communicating. And a few not so great. Now, let's talk about me I could use a pair of eyes to take a peek at my rogue <done, thanks!>

I know I have some pieces of HR armor that might be useful, just can't recall off hand. If you reach 60 and after doing initial dungeons - please post what equipment/armor you have, and maybe more of us can help out. (It's hard for me to catch you in game - I've been playing my alts and need to get my CW in the guild )

You don't need that random green 12 seconds earlier than you would have gotten it had you just waited. the loot window on the xbox is waaaaaaaaay too big to be up during combat.

I had a blast over the weekend!
In addition to the missions I was able to complete, I did four dungeons. The only time I got kicked from any of them was when my power blinked (my UPS battery was dead, too). Even when I got disconnected, nobody went so far in the dungeon that I couldn't catch up (and someone waited to make sure I could find my way).
Also, everybody piled on to outfit my ranger - it's like they gave birth to a super hero!
Thank you all for your generosity and hospitality. It means a lot.

Also, I ended up buying some Zen. I figured i would normally spend about $60 on a game, so it let me get a nice mount, some character slots, and keys.

Glad it is going well I used to buy a new game every few weeks... I have not bought any since i started this game a few months back. It has gotten some Zen from me - mostly a few keys, bags and the Armored Polar Bear, cuz, hey, its a big fat armored polar bear. and all the toons get it, so a much better value than most items from the ZEN store. There is no shame in it. If no one gave them money, we would be playing COD [not]
