Don't pick Leadership as your first profession. I took it thinking it would somehow aid me in leading a charge, helping a group, or instilling courage when fear fought to take over.
It gives you a few diamonds. That's it. Oh and it takes twice as long (if not more) to level up, and in my opinion, never becomes useful like ALL of the other professions.
Don't. Pick. Leadership.

I did the same thing. I leveled Leadership to 20 this past Friday and it took a long time. My take is that Leadership is profitable if you have multiple characters running it at level 20 also, but not just one character.

I got up to level 12 and gave up late last week. Maybe we should have a sticky at the top of the thread for "Read This First" and have "Don't start with Leadership" as item 1 lol

Considering most general professions take 5-7 days to get 0-20.
Leadership takes closer to 2-3 months to get 0-20.

I would pick the money making professions first - leatherworking, tailoring, platesmithing and mailsmithing. Start with the one that applies to your class first so that you can get the gemmed shirt and pants for your character. After that, make other shirts and pants to sell in the auction house so that you can get going on the other professions.
I would also recommend Jewelcrafting as the new mod adds better items and gems.
Leadership would then be next.
I have not seen any benefits to artificing or weaponsmithing at this point. Alchemy is supposed to be better with the new mod but I would like to see the new levels first.

Artificing is important so you can make unified elements for jewel crafting if I'm not mistaken. Or you can buy them from the ah. Or farm blue quest from pre level 70 areas. Leadership is only good at cap level for refining stones. You can make good ad from those latter on when ppl are dying to level there artifacts. But regardless its a pain to level it up.

Note - Alchemy is the profession used to get elemental aggregate and unified elements. Haven't found a use for artificing yet.
elemental Aggregates is a 7 Day Task - can be accelerated to 2+ days
Unified elements is a 12 Day Task - can be accelerate to 4 days

Yeah I leveled Alch to 25 because I knew you got the elements then I saw the timer and I was like screw that. I'd rather just buy the item, in the time I wait for it to process I could use that slot and generate over 15x the AD funds just selling the items created through other professions.
The only positive is alchemy takes 1 minute to get the materials to set the research away because it is around 500AD to speed the task and you only need 2-3 successes. 24 hours and it would be easier to consider.
The 2,000xp for just gathering materials tasks in general skilling is amazing tho, 20,000 effortless xp each log in is bliss.

See do not neglect leadership when double AD is up, like for instance this weekend. I have a couple of Alt`s that worked their way to 20 and now they have 7 tasks each going for over 3k for each task. When you are not around playing this all adds up nicely, or when you are just playing with your main Say I can get those tasks running 3 times a day, for the 3 days that double AD is up, I`m ill and cannot be bothered to add up so that is what 3.5k x 7 x 3 x 3 around something like that
